According to Polygon, Valve announced a delay to the Steam Machine in a blog post, citing rising costs and limited availability of computer components, though it still aims to ship the console in the first half of 2026.

Valve revealed the Steam Machine in November 2025 alongside the Steam Frame VR headset and the Steam Controller, originally targeting a 2026 release; it did not announce pricing, prompting speculation such as a Polygon reader poll that favored $599.

The company said memory and storage shortages have increased, forcing it to revisit its exact shipping schedule and pricing, but reiterated its goal of shipping all three products in the first half of the year.

Valve also said Steam Frame developer kits are being sent in limited, ongoing supplies, that most tested games run at 4K 60 FPS, and that it will fully support third-party face plates. Valve did not immediately respond to Polygon's request for comment, and the blog post made no mention of Half-Life 3.
