NBC Insider reports that veteran actor Stellan Skarsgård made back-to-back cameos during son Alexander Skarsgård’s Saturday Night Live hosting debut on January 31, appearing first in “Scandinavian Movie 2” and later in “Immigrant Dad Talk Show.” In the “Scandinavian Movie 2” sequel — a follow-up to the sketch from Glen Powell’s November 15 episode — Alexander and Chloe Fineman play leads filming the “harrowing” Stench of a Family and repeatedly dissolve into giggles, irritating director Mikey Day and prompting reminders there will be no “blooper reel.” The scene cuts to Stellan as their sick father waiting in a bathtub, lending “actual gravitas” while suited and sitting in water.

His lines include, “If he loved her, then why would he fling her into the fjord?” and, as he prepares to drown himself, “I will no longer have to smell ... the stench of a family.” NBC Insider noted he’s currently receiving accolades for playing a complicated father in the 2025 film Sentimental Value.

A short time later Stellan returned in the third “Immigrant Dad Talk Show,” rolling in wearing sweatpants and a riding-up shirt to play a dour Finnish father who warns, “Tell no one of this. The shame is yours! Live with it!” Musical guest Cardi B appears in the sketch as the short-tempered wife who immediately cuts down the character’s bluster.
