People reports that Sterling K. Brown told Entertainment Tonight on the Golden Globes 2026 red carpet on Jan. 11 that he plans to tune into the football playoffs during the ceremony. On the live ET broadcast, host Nischelle Turner said she “had to drag Sterling over here” because he was watching the NFL playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.

Brown said, “Yeah, it's 19-17 right now,” and added, “Eagles are up right now with about 17 minutes to go. I'm excited. I'm excited to be here also. I just love football, I'm transparent.” (The 49ers won the game, 23-19.) He also said, “I'm a Chargers fan,” and warned, “if the camera cuts to me, it's going to be a weird look because I'm going to be multitasking.” Turner referenced last year's viral moment when Dax Shepard watched a game in the audience; Brown quipped, “I'm not the first, I won't be the last,” while his wife Ryan Michelle Bathé joked, “I don't even know who's playing, child!” Brown is also a nominee at the show, and the ceremony will force at least one pause in his viewing: he is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his role in Hulu's Paradise.
