Steven Spielberg completes EGOT with Grammy for Music by John Williams
Legendary director Steven Spielberg has joined the EGOT ranks after winning a Grammy at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards for producing the Disney+ documentary Music by John Williams. The Grammy was the last award he needed to complete an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony; Music by John Williams won Best Music Film and Spielberg was credited as a producer on the project.
The documentary profiles the life and career of composer John Williams, who scored films including Star Wars, Superman and the Harry Potter series, and who composed many of his most famous scores for Spielberg films such as Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler's List and the Indiana Jones movies.
Other producers who took Grammys for The Music of John Williams include Laurent Bouzereau, Sara Bernstein, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Meredith Kaulfers, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Justin Wilkes and John Williams. The film beat nominees including Devo, Live At The Royal Albert Hall, Relentless and Piece by Piece.
Before the Grammy, Spielberg had won multiple Oscars — including Best Director for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List, the latter of which also won Best Picture — and holds a record 14 Best Picture nominations. He has four Emmys for work on Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Taken and A Pinky & the Brain Christmas, and earned a Tony in 2022 as a producer of the musical A Strange Loop.
