Movieweb reports that Martina Radwan, director of the upcoming documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, addressed the "#Conformitygate" theory, saying "I can't confirm or deny anything." She quickly laughed and added, "but no."

The theory grew after viewers cited inconsistencies in the final season and argued that characters and audiences alike were being controlled by Vecna, leading some to conclude there must be an unseen ninth episode. Fans have suggested the documentary is a subterfuge, and Gold Derby caught up with Radwan, who said, "You know, you have to ask the Duffers. I can't speak for them. But I wonder, is that wishful thinking, because people really want to get more? Like, they don't want it to be over? Which I understand." Radwan said she is focused on the documentary, and the trailer presents it as a behind-the-scenes film.

The final-season documentary is scheduled to hit Netflix on January 12. The #Conformitygate theory continues online—fueled in part by a new poster shared by Netflix—and the Duffers have faced scrutiny over the perceived quality of the final season, with some fans saying they expected a secret episode around January 7. While the theory may eventually peter out, it has underscored the depth of fan engagement and raised questions about the relationship between creators and their audience.
