Super League saga ends as Real Madrid reach agreement with UEFA — Goal

Real Madrid and UEFA have ended their legal dispute over the proposed Super League, leaving the once‑mooted project officially over. The Spanish giants were the only club still signed up to the failed scheme after Barcelona withdrew its support last week. In a joint statement UEFA, European Football Clubs and Real Madrid CF said: "UEFA, European Football Clubs and Real Madrid CF reach agreement for the good of European club football." They added that "this agreement of principles will also serve to resolve their legal disputes related to the European Super League, once such principles are executed and implemented," and stressed respect for sporting merit, long‑term club sustainability and enhancing fan experience through technology.

Several English clubs initially joined the Super League proposal in 2021 but withdrew within 72 hours after intense fan backlash.
