Supergirl's last-minute composer switch may signal a tonal shift
An update to Supergirl's IMDb listing now credits Tom Holkenborg as the film's composer in place of Ramin Djawadi. The DC Universe movie is set to reach theaters on June 26. Djawadi is best known for the opening themes of Game of Thrones and Westworld, and his credits include Iron Man (2008), Pacific Rim, The Eternals and the 2026 AI-thriller Mercy.
Holkenborg, also known as Junkie XL, has frequently worked with Zack Snyder—he co-wrote music for Batman v Superman alongside Hans Zimmer, composed the original score for Justice League (later replaced for the theatrical cut and restored for the "Snyder Cut") and scored Snyder projects such as Army of the Dead and the Rebel Moon movies.
He has also worked with George Miller on Mad Max: Fury Road and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, scored Three Thousand Years of Longing and all three Sonic films, and is credited with the electronic Elvis remix "A Little Less Conversation" that went viral in 2010.
