Supergirl Super Bowl teaser shows baby Krypto

Krypto the Superdog, a DC Comics character since the 1950s, made his first film appearance in last year's Superman and quickly became a highlight, even helping spur a surge in dog adoptions. He returns in Supergirl, which follows Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) after she appeared at the end of Superman to collect her dog; Superman had been watching Krypto while she was away.

A new Super Bowl teaser mostly reuses footage from earlier trailers but adds a few new shots, including glimpses of a puppy Krypto. The clip opens with the young dog scampering up to Supergirl and her scooping him into her arms. "Who are you?" she asks. James Gunn also tweeted a picture of a young puppy Krypto.

Set after Superman but including flashbacks, Supergirl follows the pair as they travel across the galaxy and is part of James Gunn's retooled DC Universe.
