Sydney Sweeney Thriller That Grossed 9x Its Budget Is Dominating Prime Video

Reporting by Collider: The Housemaid, the erotic thriller starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried alongside Brandon Sklenar, is now available to rent or purchase on VOD platforms including Prime Video and Apple TV. The film, based on the book by Freida McFadden, grossed over $300 million at the box office against a $35 million budget and is winding down its theatrical run.

At the time of writing it is taking over the VOD charts in America and is in the top 10 in more than 15 countries. The Housemaid earned 74% from critics and 92% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and McFadden shared a positive review ahead of release. The story follows a struggling young woman who begins work as a maid for a wealthy couple and becomes entangled in a dangerous love triangle full of secrets and deceit.

Lionsgate has announced a sequel, tentatively titled The Housemaid’s Secret, with only Sydney Sweeney expected to return and no official release date; it could be released as soon as next year.
