According to People, influencer Tara Lynn, who posts as @taraswrld, drew online backlash after calling a follower a "hater" for allegedly promising to send her a shirt and then not following through.

Lynn had posted a plea asking to borrow the Pearly Bow Halter Top from For Love & Lemons, which the report notes retails for $239, saying the style was sold out everywhere and she needed it for New Year’s Eve. She later said several followers offered the top but wanted money, and in a now-deleted post — described by the outlet as quoted by The Tab — accused one follower of pretending to help then ghosting her: "One of my haters did something f----- up to me today." A commenter later wrote that she was the follower in question and apologized, saying she was an ER nurse who stayed overtime because the emergency room was short staffed and that she had already apologized to Lynn.

TikTok users criticized Lynn for calling out an essential worker over the shirt, and some viewers questioned whether the account that promised the top was genuine. The post notes the TikTok account had only two videos at the time of publishing, and Lynn later expressed skepticism on Jan. 5, saying the account had many followers but no profile picture or other links and that it had shared images some users deemed AI-generated.
