TeamSpeak says surge has maxed hosting capacity amid Discord checks — Pcgamer

TeamSpeak says it has seen an "incredible surge of new users" and that current hosting capacity has been reached in many regions, especially in the United States. The platform posted the message on X and Facebook but has not released hard numbers. Discord recently announced it will roll out facial scanning and ID checks globally from March.

Privacy concerns have mounted after Discord may have leaked 70,000 age‑verification ID photos in a security breach last year, prompting some users to seek alternatives. Discord has clarified that not all users will necessarily need to submit to an age assurance check and that it may be able to confirm age groups using information it already has.

Some UK users could be part of an age-assurance "experiment" deploying Persona, a third-party vendor with Peter Thiel among its investors, which has made the approach contentious for some.
