Tech companies and A.I. dominate Davos as Trump’s visit looms
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, global technology companies and artificial intelligence-focused events dominated the gathering, while attention centered on the expected arrival of President Trump. Lines formed early for the AI House and an Axios forum on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, while a storefront for the Alliance for Global Good–Gender Equity and Equality sat largely empty.
Attendees queued for branded parties and lounges run by cryptocurrency and A.I. firms, and large retail spaces for Meta, Salesforce and Tata, as well as national exhibits for Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, occupied the main promenade. USA House, sponsored by McKinsey and Microsoft, was set up across the street from Palantir.
The forum drew some 3,000 people from 130 countries and worsened local traffic, and security was tightened ahead of Mr. Trumps expected arrival on Wednesday. European leaders used addresses to warn against U.S. tariffs tied to Mr. Trumps claims on Greenland: when asked whether Europe would stay firm, Christine Lagarde said, "Yes.
