Ted Lasso star Toheeb Jimoh urges 'revenge arc' and trophy for Ted in Season 4
Goal reports that Toheeb Jimoh, who plays Sam Obisanya on Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso, said he hopes Season 4 will deliver a "revenge arc" that allows the title character to finally win a trophy.
Jason Sudeikis has said the writers are working on Season 4, telling an episode of Jason and Travis Kelce’s "New Heights" podcast in 2025: "We’re writing Season 4 now. That’s the official word. Ted’s coaching a women’s team, so that’s it." Contract options have been taken up on Hannah Waddingham, Nick Mohammed, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. Jimoh joked to People magazine about wanting "a funeral for Sam" before adding, "I want Ted to actually win something... Win a trophy, bro. Win a trophy. Can you imagine his entire philosophy changes? Great, we’ll get like three more seasons. I’m down for that. Let’s have a revenge arc for Ted Lasso!"
There has been no official word on a release date. A renewal option was reportedly triggered in March 2025, and Jimoh says he knows "nothing about it at all," which he suggested could mean his character will not return. The official Season 4 logline reads: "Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team." Ted Lasso has earned 61 Emmy nominations and landed 13 awards in total, with Sudeikis winning lead actor in a comedy series in 2021 and 2022.
