Teddi Mellencamp says she’s physically in a good place as she continues to navigate her cancer battle, while acknowledging the emotional toll behind the scenes. Her father John Mellencamp had said she had been “suffering,” and she clarified, “I think physically, I’m in a good place.

I think what he was saying when he said ‘suffering’ is what we don’t often talk about when it comes to cancer, is how you feel after all of the surgeries and all of the testing … how your mental state is doing. And that has been suffering.” She first disclosed a stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in October 2022 and has undergone more than a dozen surgeries, including an emergency procedure in 2025 to remove several tumors in her brain.

Recalling that period, she said, “Going onto surgery, I didn’t even know what was happening. I went in thinking I had a headache. I was working the Super Bowl with Tamra [Judge] and then the next day I went in to the hospital thinking I had migraines.
