Teen charged in 2022 Kansas City murder says he has shot 400 people
According to Independent.co, Daimon Benson, now 19, who has been charged in connection with a 2022 murder in Kansas City, Missouri, has told detectives he has shot about 400 people, court records show. Authorities say detectives responding to a report of a shooting found a woman in a white Toyota Camry with a gunshot wound to the head on a highway in Jackson County on October 21, 2022; the car had crashed against a concrete barrier and the woman later died at the hospital.
Investigators found a bullet hole in the Camry’s trunk and one in the front driver’s side window, which was partially shattered, and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s office said detectives determined a gray Dodge Charger had chased the Toyota after it cut off the Charger. Benson, who was in the Charger’s passenger seat, allegedly fired into the Toyota, which then crashed while the Charger fled the scene.
Several witnesses told investigators they heard gunshots and one said the driver was leaning over bleeding from her face when he stopped to help. Benson told detectives he did not remember being involved in the shooting but, according to court documents, said: “Roughly like, my whole life, like 400 people.” He said about 150 of those shootings came from robberies in 2019 and 2020 when he and another person allegedly robbed an average of three people a day, and described the rest as “battles” with rivals involving about ten shooting incidents a month.
