Movieweb reports that the third season of the spy thriller Tehran has jumped to No.1 on Apple TV's global chart after premiering on January 9, overtaking Vince Gilligan's Pluribus.

Pluribus had become Apple TV's most-watched show in history following its November debut, but Tehran immediately rose to the top when its new season began. The show, which originally aired in December 2024 on Israeli TV, is now topping the chart in 68 countries as it finds a wider audience on Apple TV.

Season 3 will drop new episodes each week through to a season finale on February 27. The installment adds Hugh Laurie as South African nuclear inspector Eric Peterson (Glenn Close appeared in Season 2), and early critical response has been positive: Daily Telegraph's Ed Power called it "an absorbing return by one of the best thrillers around," Abe Friedtanzer of Awards Buzz said the pacing "remains tight and involving," and Peter Martin of ScreenAnarchy noted that while some "twists bend credulity," the actors "sell the sentiments in an authentic manner." The series originally debuted in September 2020 with a 94% critical score and an 85% Rotten Tomatoes rating.
