Ten films turning 50 in 2026 ranked among the worst
Collider published a ranking of the ten worst films turning 50 in 2026, singling out entries from Tobe Hooper’s Eaten Alive to the notoriously bad Track of the Moon Beast.
The roundup criticizes Eaten Alive for substituting Hooper’s earlier atmosphere with pointless sex scenes and gratuitous violence; calls Grizzly a haphazard Jaws rip-off whose only redeeming feature is the Kodiak bear Teddy; and describes Cannonball! as a racing caper lacking energy or passion. It also condemns At the Earth's Core for ugly creatures and embarrassing acting, Island of Death for blood-soaked shock value that led to widespread bans, Ilsa: Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks as offensive and failing on multiple levels, and Squirm as a boring B-horror better known for its Mystery Science Theater 3000 appearance.
The list further brands Blood Sucking Freaks as misogynistic and gratuitously violent, The Food of the Gods as a clichéd, schlocky adaptation with only its giant-rat effects standing out, and places Track of the Moon Beast at the bottom as an “atrocious” failure. Track of the Moon Beast is noted with a June 1, 1976 release date, a 90-minute runtime, director Richard Ashe and writer Bill Finger. The piece also notes that while some of these films have acquired so-bad-they're-good cult followings, others have faded into relative obscurity as they reach their 50th anniversary.
