Ten horror films the list says are scarier than Hereditary
Collider published a list arguing that ten horror films can be considered even scarier than Ari Aster's 2018 film Hereditary.
The selections span modern and classic entries, including It (2017) praised for Bill Skarsgård's Pennywise, Japan's Ringu (1998) and its iconic Sadako television shot, the claustrophobic cave terror of The Descent (2005), and Robert Eggers's slow-burning The Witch (2015). Other inclusions are the original-idea dread of It Follows (2014), John Carpenter's paranoia-driven The Thing (1982), Tobe Hooper's gritty The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), James Wan's haunted-house The Conjuring (2013), and Scott Derrickson's unnerving Sinister (2012).
The piece places William Friedkin's The Exorcist at No. 1, describing it as a pinnacle of terror and noting elements such as Krzysztof Penderecki's chilling theme and Linda Blair's performance; it also lists the film's release date as December 26, 1973, runtime as 122 minutes, and director as William Friedkin.
