Terraria 1.4.5 Bigger & Boulder draws 164,067 players, hits second-highest Steam peak
After five years, Terraria's long-awaited 1.4.5 update has reached a 24-hour peak of 164,067 players, according to SteamDB, marking the game's second-highest player peak to date.
SteamDB shows Terraria's all-time peak came in 2020 when update 1.4, Journey's End, launched and brought 489,886 players to the game. Developer Re-Logic has dubbed the new 1.4.5 patch "Bigger & Boulder," and the update has been three years in the making.
Major additions highlighted in coverage include two crossover packs — one with Dead Cells and another with Palworld — plus a new Skyblock world seed inspired by Minecraft that challenges players to survive with scarce resources and the risk of falling.
Other content in 1.4.5 includes vampirism, new transformations, an RC car, and numerous new blocks and furniture items, such as the Aetherium set, the Gothic collection, and Corruption and Crimson furnishings.
It remains unclear whether player numbers will climb further or challenge the 2020 record; SteamDB's current 24-hour peak could still grow in the days after the update's release.
