A report from Nytimes says "choppelganger" (CHOP-uhl-gang-er), a portmanteau of "chopped" and doppelgänger, is being used by Gen Z and Gen Alpha to describe a more unattractive version of yourself.

The term gained traction after a TikTok post by Kiwi Lynas, which has amassed millions of views; Ms. Lynas made the video after being told she looked like Mick Jagger. Teachers and parents have encountered the word: a seventh-grade teacher said students call one another "choppelgangers," and a father said his 14-year-old described it as "a person that’s chopped that looks like you."

While not inherently meanspirited, Ms. Lynas said no one wants to be told they look like Mick Jagger. A teacher suggested the word "might linger for a bit" if it blows up online, but predicted students would likely move on to the next slang in a week or two.
