Movieweb reports Teyana Taylor delivered an emotional acceptance speech at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 11, after being voted Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture for Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another.

Through tears Taylor said she nearly didn't prepare a speech because she didn't believe she'd win, and she thanked voters, her parents, her "tribe" and Anderson for his vision and trust. She also addressed audiences directly, saying, "And last but most importantly, to my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight: our softness is not a liability, our depth is not too much, our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into, our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space."

The film secured four Golden Globes in total, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director for Anderson; Taylor was the only performer from the film to win a Globe, while the rest of the cast — including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro — remains in contention for future ceremonies. Reviewer Julian Roman went as far as to suggest Taylor may well end up with an Oscar; Academy Award nominees are announced on Thursday, January 22, and critics have already been effusive in their praise.
