"That is extremely stupid design": Witcher 1 story lead on epilogue
Artur Ganszyniec, lead narrative designer on The Witcher, published the final episode of a 26-video playthrough in which he played the first game for the first time in 20 years. During the epilogue he became frustrated but was candid about responsibility: "Most of the epilogue, I was the one implementing it, so I got only myself to blame for everything that's happening here." At about the 23-minute mark he mistakenly attacked an elf and found himself needing to "kill them all" or load an old save.
He said the epilogue was made at the last minute after project lead Jacek Brzeziński decided to "find some extra time" to make a worthwhile epilogue, so he and Brzeziński worked on it at night after their normal development schedules; the result, in his view, left a few rough edges.
Later, around 30:10, he tried to meditate but couldn't because a fire wasn't lit and "you can't cast spells in safe areas." He reacted: "That was really stupid. I can't cast Igni here because it is a safe location. Maybe there will be something to loot here.
