The Crying Game Streams Free on Pluto TV
One of the most iconic cult thrillers of the 1990s, The Crying Game, is now available to watch for free on Pluto TV. The British/Irish crime drama was added to the free streaming platform on Feb 1 and will likely remain there only until the end of the month. Directed and written by Neil Jordan, the 1992 film won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1993 and received nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor (Stephen Rea), and Best Director.
Stephen Rea stars as Fergus, an IRA member who kidnaps British soldier Jody (Forest Whitaker) and forms an unexpected bond with him. After the hostage situation turns, Fergus follows a promise to visit Jody's girlfriend, Dil (Jaye Davidson), in London; hounded by former IRA colleagues, he finds himself increasingly drawn to the enigmatic Dil, and the film builds to a famously unforgettable twist.
Critics lauded the movie on release and it holds a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while user scores sit at 78%.
