In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Todd Howard gave a long-awaited update on The Elder Scrolls 6's development. He didn't offer a release date — aside from "not this week" — but promised a return to the classic style that shaped The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

Howard said Bethesda's games have "sort of always evolved" and that the studio wants to get better at the style its fans like. "In some ways, in many ways, Fallout 76 and Starfield are a little bit of a creative detour from that kind of classic Elder Scrolls or Fallout [game]," he added, naming Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Oblivion as examples of the studio's classic approach.
