The Naked Gun tops Prime Video as three strong movie picks for the week
Collider reports Akiva Schaffer’s The Naked Gun, starring Liam Neeson, is topping Prime Video’s movie rankings once again this week. The action comedy parody is described as a legacy sequel/soft reboot of the cult classic franchise and has been widely hailed as one of the best comedies of the past year, a wild, madcap watch anchored by Neeson’s deadpan comedic abilities.
For different moods on the service, the piece highlights About a Boy (2002), directed by Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz and starring Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult; the film grossed over $130 million and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, two BAFTA nominations, and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
It also recommends Alice, Darling (2023), Mary Nighy’s directorial debut starring Anna Kendrick about a woman in an emotionally abusive relationship, which premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival and earned a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Art Direction/Production Design.
