At the time of writing, HBO’s medical drama The Pitt has taken back the No. 1 spot on HBO Max’s global streaming charts, dethroning A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which now sits at No. 2. The Knight series has only six episodes in its first season, and Collider notes that limited episode count helps explain why The Pitt is set up for a much longer tenure of success on the charts.

The Pitt stars Noah Wyle as a doctor at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center and was HBO’s first original medical drama. Season 1 picked up several Emmys, including Best Drama Series, and Season 2 currently holds a 99% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes. HBO Max boss Casey Bloys also recently confirmed that a third season of The Pitt will be released next year around the same time as the first two seasons.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the second Game of Thrones spin-off (behind House of the Dragon) and is set between the events of the flagship show and the Targaryen-focused spin-off, telling the smaller story of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg. The 2026 series has earned widespread critical acclaim, though some fans have criticized it for being much different than its bloodier predecessors.

The Pitt’s latest episode also addressed a Season 2 casting change: Tracy Ifeachor’s Dr. Heather Collins does not return, and the episode revealed Dr. Collins took another job in Portland.
