The Pitt Season 2 opens with a 100% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes
Collider reports the review embargo for The Pitt Season 2 has lifted ahead of the premiere this Thursday, and early critic reviews place the new season at a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 16 reviews at the time of writing, topping Season 1's 95%.
The Emmy-winning medical drama led by Noah Wyle will premiere its first of 15 episodes on January 9, 2025, almost exactly one year after Season 1 began streaming on HBO Max. The series was HBO’s first original medical drama after more than 20 years away from the genre and, after a slow start, Season 1 finished as one of the most popular shows in the world and collected Emmys including Best Drama Series, Best Lead Actor (Wyle), Best Supporting Actress (Katherine LaNasa), Best Guest Actor (Shawn Hatosy) and Best Casting.
Season 2 retains the one-shift format and jumps forward to Fourth of July weekend, opening the door to firework-related injuries. HBO has not officially renewed The Pitt for a third season; the streamer is likely waiting to see how Season 2 performs, and the recent Netflix acquisition of Warner Bros. has left some fans questioning the show’s future, despite HBO Max boss Casey Bloys saying last year the series will be around for years.
