The Pitt Season 2 earns 96% on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of HBO Max debut
Movieweb reports that The Pitt Season 2 has debuted with a Certified Fresh score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of its Jan. 9, 2025 premiere on HBO Max.
Critics on Rotten Tomatoes say the sophomore season largely matches or improves on the first: Grace Randolph from Beyond the Trailer writes, "Episode 1 gets off to a rocky start, but after that The Pitt is not only as good as Season 1 but gets even better," and Nina Starner from Looper.com adds, "Second seasons are hard, and the sophomore slump is real, but The Pitt Season 2 is just as strong as the first." Reviewers note the season "keeps everything that worked in place" while adding "higher stakes and intensity," and praise the cast, which includes Noah Wyle, Patrick Ball, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Katherine LaNasa, Isa Briones, and Shabana Azeez. The show’s first season earned 13 Primetime Emmy nominations and won Outstanding Drama Series.
Season 2 is set on the Fourth of July and is expected to feature numerous firework-related injuries; episodes will premiere on HBO Max every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. ET through its conclusion on Apr. 2, 2026. There is no word yet on whether the series will return for a third season.
