The Pitt season 2 opens with Dr. Robby's last day before sabbatical
Season 2 of The Pitt begins with senior attending Dr. Michael Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) arriving on a motorcycle for his final shift before a three-month sabbatical at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. The premiere underlines Robby’s status as the E.R.’s rock star and returns the series as an acclaimed, award-winning show — the review notes the series won five Emmys, including best drama and best actor for Wyle.
Several familiar figures are back: Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) has returned after time off, Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) is back from rehab, and Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones) remains on staff. The episode also reintroduces last season’s four rookies — Dr. Mel King, Dennis Whitaker, Victoria Javadi and others — and adds new characters, including med students Joy Kwon and James Ogilve, nurse Emma Nolan and the new attending Dr.
Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), who is set to run the Pitt while Robby is away. The episode stages a series of typical emergency cases: a young girl with unexplained bruises, a month-old infant left in a restroom that visibly affects Dr. Al, an unhoused man helped to clean up in the waiting room, and a businessman whose injuries hint at cognitive impairment.
The show’s second season will again cover 15 consecutive hours in the E.R., spread across 15 weekly episodes, and continues to use one contiguous set filmed largely with two hand-held cameras to create a real-time, lived-in feel.
