Movieweb reports that The Pitt returned to HBO Max with its Season 2 premiere, and the cast spoke with Entertainment Weekly to unpack the episode.

Episode 1, titled "7:00 A.M.," is set on July 4 and follows Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch arriving on his last day before a months-long sabbatical as the night shift ends. The episode also marks the return of senior resident Frank Langdon from rehab and introduces Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, who will lead the ER during Robby’s absence. Noah Wyle said Robby "was hoping that their shifts wouldn't overlap and that he could get outta dodge before having to see him," and Patrick Ball noted Langdon’s apology to a patient, adding, "It is really tricky when coming to terms with the ways in which you have wronged people. Probably, there's a lot of people that don't hate him near as much as he anticipates."

The premiere adds a new cliffhanger when an abandoned baby is left in the ER and Sepideh Moafi said her character’s shocked reaction "has to do with a big spoiler," adding, "Her reaction to that baby, the abandoned baby, will make more sense later on in the season." The series has already been renewed for a third season, Season 2 returned less than one year after Season 1, episode 15 is currently being filmed, and it is not yet known which attending physicians will return for Season 3. Release Date: January 9, 2025; Network: Max.
