Cast of HBO’s The Pitt celebrated Season 2 premiere in Los Angeles and learned of renewal
At the Directors Guild of America theater complex in Los Angeles, the cast and crew of HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt gathered for the Season 2 premiere, where they learned the show had already been renewed for a third season. Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa and new cast member Sepideh Moafi were among those who walked a light-brown carpet and attended a screening and after-party.
The series dramatizes a 15-hour shift inside a crowded Pittsburgh emergency room, with each episode capturing about an hour of chaos that can feel as if it is unfolding in real time. “It’s more mayhem, more pressure,” Damian Marcano, a co-executive producer and director, said. The new season premieres on HBO at 9 p.m.
on Thursday. Noah Wyle’s character, Dr. Michael Robinavitch, known as Dr. Robby, runs the emergency department and mentors younger staff; Season 2 picks up 10 months after the first season, around sunrise on July 4 as Dr. Robby motorcycles to his shift without a helmet. The season introduces Dr.
Baran Al-Hashimi (played by Ms. Moafi), and the show continues its emphasis on realism: actors attend medical boot camp each season and, Amanda Marsalis, a director, said there is a doctor present on set for each episode to offer notes. “The only person who doesn’t get that note is Noah.
