Thibaut Courtois becomes shareholder of Le Mans — Goal

Thibaut Courtois has become a shareholder in Ligue 2 side Le Mans FC, the club announced. He joins a group of minority investors that includes Novak Djokovic, Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen, while Brazilian group OutField is the majority owner. Courtois made his investment through his company NxtPlay Capital and is the first of the quartet to come from the world of football.

Le Mans described Courtois as "a two-time UEFA Champions League winner and iconic goalkeeper" whose top-level expertise will be put to use both on and off the pitch. The club said OutField’s takeover and the strengthened investor group are intended to accelerate structural development, provide resources and support projects such as the construction of a training centre dedicated to local talent.

The organisation aims to become a national benchmark in youth development and to strengthen sporting performance and the club’s brand at home and abroad.
