Thief in Nick Fouquet hat heist in Aspen comes forward
Pagesix reports the perpetrator of a daytime break-in at the St. Regis hotel in Aspen has come forward after two Nick Fouquet hats, each worth about $2,000, were stolen from a display case. The hats had been part of a limited-edition Snow Lodge collaboration with Caviar Kaspia.
After his face appeared on Page Six, the man called Jayma Cardoso of the Snow Lodge and offered to return one hat, saying he had given the other to a girl. A source says he lives in Australia, has apologized and told Cardoso's team he had been very drunk and had no idea he was committing a crime.
Snow Lodge is seeking payment for the hats and for damage to the display created by artists T. Hunter McCann and Benjamin Voutour; when the damage was mentioned, the man allegedly asked, "You mean the paper?" Cardoso said, "I forgive him," and added, "pay for the hats and the damages and we are good.
