This QPAD surface has made me a glass mouse pad convert
I'd always stuck to cloth mouse pads and, after a few disappointing hard plastic attempts, didn't expect to switch. The QPAD Obsidian Glass changed that. It revealed a class of glass pads I had been overlooking and quickly made a convert of me. Getting used to the Obsidian Glass took far less time than I feared — a couple of days and a few hours of Counter-Strike had me at home with it.
The micro-textured tempered glass lets you flow with the surface rather than fight it, making microadjustments and surprising flick shots easier. It stays put thanks to its 1.5 kg weight and rubber base; dimensions are 420 × 420 × 4 mm and the price is £100 (UK only).
There are trade-offs. Glass can cause a sticky forearm in some conditions, so a hoodie or a gaming sleeve helps, and PTFE skates will wear down quickly, so harder feet are recommended. It is expensive, requires a sleeve for some users, and produces a noticeable swiping sound.
