Tim Weah: 'I was a broken player' when joining Marseille
Tim Weah says he arrived at Marseille in 2025 a "broken player", struggling to find motivation after a difficult spell at Juventus. He recalled that "getting up in the morning was hard" and that the club took a chance on him. Weah moved to Turin in the summer of 2023 for a little over €10 million and was used in a variety of positions, but regular starts were never guaranteed.
His return to Ligue 1 in 2025 came on an initial loan that includes an obligation to buy of around €18 million. After 28 appearances, including a Champions League outing at the Santiago Bernabeu, he says he feels "a bit like a Marseillais" and has been embraced by the club and its supporters.
He praised coach Roberto De Zerbi, who persuaded him to join with a four‑a.m. FaceTime call — "Tim, you have to come here.
