Timothy Busfield Indicted on Child Sexual Abuse Charges
Court records released Friday show prosecutors in New Mexico secured an indictment of Timothy Busfield on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor. The charges arise from allegations that the 68-year-old actor and director made sexual contact with a child actor he directed on the Fox series The Cleaning Lady.
Mr. Busfield has denied the allegations, calling them "lies." Prosecutors allege the child, who worked on the show alongside his twin brother, was 7 and 8 years old when the touching occurred and that Busfield repeatedly touched the boy’s genitals and backside.
The defense has pointed to audio recordings in which both boys told authorities Busfield did not touch them inappropriately. A grand jury voted to indict on four counts, moving the case closer to trial; no trial date has been set. Records show medical and psychological materials that prosecutors say bolster the accusations.
