Today stars rally around Savannah Guthrie after her mother's abduction
Savannah Guthrie, 54, has been living in a nightmare after her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, was abducted from her Arizona home and has been missing for six days. Rather than anchoring at Studio 1A in New York, Guthrie is staying at her sister Annie’s home in Tucson as the family waits for news.
Her Today co‑hosts have rallied around her. Hoda Kotb skipped a hosting stint at the Winter Olympics in Milan to remain in the U.S., returning to Studio 1A on Friday to join Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones and Carson Daly for a segment about the outpouring of support.
Kotb, visibly emotional, said, “This whole thing is breaking my heart … Because you’re family!” Guthrie appeared distraught as she read a statement addressing her mother’s purported kidnappers while seated between her sister Annie and brother Camron. She referred to Nancy as “mommy,” pleaded for her safe return and described her as “a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light” with grandchildren who adore her.
