Todd Howard says Elder Scrolls 6 will return to Bethesda's 'classic style' — Gamesradar

The Elder Scrolls 6 has become a gaming cryptid: visible mostly through one vague picture and eight years of speculation since Bethesda revealed the title card at E3 2018. In that silence, Reddit theorycrafting helped shape its identity, until this week when creative director Todd Howard offered a glimpse of how the studio is approaching the next RPG on the Kinda Funny Gamescast.

Howard described Fallout 76 and Starfield as "a little bit of a creative detour from that classic Elder Scrolls, Fallout – Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Oblivion – where you're exploring a world in a certain way," and added, "as we come back to Elder Scrolls 6 that we're doing now, we're coming back to that classic style that we've missed, that we know really well." That "classic style" traces through games that favored depth and color over sheer sprawl.
