Tom Hardy's Taboo praised again as Season 2 remains undated
Movieweb says Ridley Scott-produced thriller Taboo, starring Tom Hardy, deserves another look ahead of a long-anticipated Season 2. Created by Steven Knight and the father-son team of Tom and Chips Hardy and executive-produced through Scott Free Productions, Taboo is set in 1814 and follows Hardy as adventurer James Delaney, exploring the dark side of 19th-century London, working-class struggles and corruption tied to the East India Company.
The series premiered January 10, 2017 on FX in the United States and also stars Leo Bill, Jessie Buckley, Oona Chaplin, Stephen Graham, Jefferson Hall, David Hayman, Edward Hogg and Mark Gatiss; it is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at 76% and has a Popcornmeter score of 91%. Called "gloriously offensive" by some and "one of the best series of the last 20 years" by others, all eight episodes of Season 1 are streaming now on Peacock and for free on Tubi.
Taboo was renewed for Season 2 in March 2017 after its first-season run finished in February 2017, but production was delayed as both Hardy and Knight became highly in-demand.
