Tom Hiddleston says Tim Burton’s Batman inspired his Loki
Movieweb reports that Tom Hiddleston said on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast he "truthfully don't believe I would have played Loki without that film," referring to Tim Burton's 1989 Batman.
Hiddleston explained Jack Nicholson's Joker made a strong impact on his imagination: Nicholson's charisma, inventiveness and sense of freedom informed his approach, and he also cited Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne/Batman and their dynamic. He said that while filming Thor with Kenneth Branagh they ran multiple takes as tributes to different actors — including Peter O'Toole, Jack Nicholson and Clint Eastwood — to give Loki varied "flavors in the edit."
Hiddleston has not shared details of the upcoming movie in recent interviews, but his Loki will return in Avengers: Doomsday, which the source says will show how the story comes together on December 18, 2026.
