Collider reports (Jan. 29, 2026) that Tombstone, the 1993 Western directed by George P. Cosmatos, has risen onto the domestic PVOD leaderboards, ranking among the most-watched titles on the platform according to FlixPatrol. The piece argues that Tombstone has emerged as the decade's greatest Western cult classic, arriving amid a renewed appetite for the genre even though Westerns were widely seen as out of fashion in the 1990s.

FlixPatrol placed it on the domestic PVOD charts while the leaderboards were topped by Zootopia 2 and Song Sung Blue. Originally set to be directed by Kevin Jarre, Tombstone underwent a troubled production: Jarre was fired a month into shooting after falling behind schedule, Cosmatos was brought in as his replacement, and the film reportedly saw star Kurt Russell "calling the shots"—Russell later claimed he directed the movie.

The ensemble cast includes Russell alongside Val Kilmer, Bill Paxton, Sam Elliott, Powers Boothe, Michael Biehn, Stephen Lang and Charlton Heston, with narration by Robert Mitchum.
