Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream launches April 16, 2026 on Switch, Switch 2
Nintendo announced the release date for the upcoming life-sim Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream during a 20-minute Nintendo Direct focused on the game. The title will launch for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on April 16, 2026.
The release date was only a small part of the 20-minute presentation, which GamesRadar described as a made-for-TV, off-the-rails fever dream from the Japanese gaming giant.
Living the Dream will offer heavy personalization, not just in character creation but in world-building: you can make your island look like your Mii's head, have pets that look like paper cutouts, and place houses that resemble Chinese takeout cartons — details GamesRadar said show the game "really will let you live your dream."
Nintendo also included inclusivity features, with a non-binary gender option and same-sex romance options, fulfilling the company's stated aim to make the next Tomodachi installment more inclusive, GamesRadar noted. The Direct did not appear to bring back the concert hall.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is set for April 16, 2026; beyond the announced date and the features shown in the Direct, GamesRadar did not detail whether other elements — such as a returning concert hall — will be added before launch.
