Toronto FC offer $18 million for Norwich striker Josh Sargent
According to Goal, Toronto FC have reportedly submitted an $18 million bid for USMNT striker Josh Sargent.
Multiple reports say negotiations remain ongoing and no agreement has been reached, with Toronto optimistic despite resistance from Norwich. Sargent missed Norwich’s FA Cup match after informing the club he was focused on a potential transfer; manager Philippe Clement said, "He sent me a message to say that he was not available today because of transfer things that are in his head," adding, "That is obviously not something we want and it will have consequences. We need to speak about that this week inside the club." Fabrizio Romano and ESPN also reported the bid, and Toronto declined to comment.
Clement reiterated the club's position, saying, "He will not leave in this transfer window." Sargent has eight goals and three assists in 24 appearances this season and has played 157 matches for Norwich since joining from Werder Bremen in 2021, scoring 56 goals and adding 15 assists. With the 2026 World Cup approaching he is vying for a spot under U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino; he has made just two appearances for the national team and has not previously played in MLS. Whether the move materialises or not, the situation has introduced uncertainty into a pivotal year for the forward.
