Tottenham eye Mauricio Pochettino as club weighs interim options
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in reappointing Mauricio Pochettino after sacking Thomas Frank. The club sit 16th, five points clear of West Ham in 18th, and may have to wait until after the 2026 World Cup to free Pochettino from his role with the United States men’s national team.
Pochettino’s name was sung by Spurs fans during the defeat to Newcastle. He spent five years in charge between 2014 and 2019, taking the side to a Champions League final, mounting title challenges and overseeing an unbeaten home campaign in his final season at White Hart Lane.
The coverage included the line that Pochettino "would walk back to the club" if he were asked. An interim appointment is likely while longer-term options are explored. Robbie Keane has been considered — he is under contract at Ferencvaros and is viewed as the "Carrick candidate" — while John Heitinga, who joined Frank’s staff last month, remains an internal option with his future uncertain.
