Trump tells Iranian protesters 'help is on its way' as rights groups warn of possible execution
Independent.co reports that Donald Trump told protesters in Iran that "HELP IS ON ITS WAY" and warned Tehran it would pay a "big price" for a violent crackdown, posting the message on Truth Social.
In his post Mr Trump wrote: "Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING - TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP."
Rights groups say the Iranian regime plans to execute a protester on Wednesday, naming 26-year-old Erfan Soltani of Fardis as a possible first case, and saying his family were told only on Monday and have been refused information about charges or proceedings, according to the Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights. The UK has summoned Iran's ambassador and the European Commission president said further sanctions would be proposed, while casualty figures remain disputed in reports from different groups and officials.
