President Trump’s appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos was met with both relief and anxiety after he announced a “framework” for an agreement over the future of Greenland and the Arctic and walked back threats of military action and tariffs; some attendees texted one another “Taco!” after, The Times reports.

Business leaders said the relief was tempered by deeper worries that ties between major American companies and international partners were fraying. Several executives pointed to a speech by Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada describing a “rupture” to the global order, and many C.E.O.s waited for Mr.

Trump at a gathering he summoned, with some canceling other meetings so as not to offend him. Those dynamics played out in social and private settings: Jane Fraser, Citigroup’s C.E.O., “missed part of her own bank’s cocktail reception to wait for Trump,” according to two people with knowledge of the event who weren’t authorized to speak publicly.

The Financial Times reported that Bank of America’s Brian Moynihan was not on the guest list for a Trump reception; sources said he spent part of the evening at a client dinner where executives applauded when Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick read Mr. Trump’s social media post withdrawing the tariff threat.
