Twelve South’s Valet desktop console packs a Qi2 wireless puck into a Nappa leather base
Twelve South has released the Valet, a desktop console made from genuine Nappa leather that includes a Qi2 wireless charging puck and space for holding essentials. The device is available now for $179, according to ZDNET. The Valet is built with a weighted zinc alloy base and rubberized stoppers and weighs 2.3 pounds; the base measures 9.75 by 7.5 inches.
Its minimalist design includes two USB-C ports on the underside—one for the power feed and a second for an optional cable that can charge a second device at 35W—and four cable routing posts that allow the charger to be arranged in portrait or landscape with the charging post on either side.
ZDNET notes the Valet is intended for one or two devices rather than serving as a multi-device hub. The magnetic, removable frame and leather base are offered in multiple color combinations (leather in taupe or black, frame in taupe, ecru, brown, or black). The review also says the unit briefly illuminates downward-facing lights when a device is placed on the charger, works through a MagSafe-compatible case, and that the black finish can show dust.
ZDNET describes the Valet as a premium, solidly built piece and recommends it for users who want to consolidate phone charging and pocket essentials. The outlet adds it is relatively expensive compared with simpler options—citing Twelve South’s HiRise 2 Deluxe at $79—but that the Valet’s leather surface and construction suggest durability.
