Kotaku reports Ubisoft is releasing free 60FPS performance patches for several PS4-era titles on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Far Cry 3 Classic and Far Cry Primal are scheduled to receive 60FPS updates on January 21, and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic Edition was announced to get a 60FPS patch on January 19.

The patches are free and, the report says, should work once players update the remastered versions, assuming nothing breaks. Ubisoft has rolled out similar free 60FPS updates before: Far Cry 4 was updated for current‑gen machines, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate received a 60FPS patch in 2024, Far Cry 5 got one the year before, and the OG Division was updated in December 2025 to unlock 60FPS on PS5.

Not all publishers provide these upgrades, and the report notes some games are built around 30FPS so updates can be tricky or resource intensive; PS4 emulation is also still in early stages. From a business angle, the patches let Ubisoft continue marketing older games and likely sell new copies, and with a Far Cry TV show in the works at FX, the company will have updated versions ready if the show draws players back.
