Ubisoft is trying to take down concept art and screenshots from its canceled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake after images from a 2024 workshop presentation circulated online, Kotaku reports. The assets are from a 2024 pre-alpha workshop and don’t show the game in motion, but they provide a sense of what the team was working toward.

The presentation was posted to YouTube and later removed via a copyright strike by Ubisoft, though fans captured and shared the images across social media. The remake had reportedly struggled since its 2020 announcement and was essentially restarted in 2023. Ubisoft announced the project’s cancellation less than a week ago as part of a wider round of cuts.

Eman Ayaz, an actor who has hinted she was involved with the game, said she filmed a marketing promo two months before the cancellation. In a YouTube video Ayaz said, “I pushed myself past old limits and discovered things I didn’t even know existed inside of me through the lives that I lived in this character,” adding the project brought out “the best performance of my career.” Kotaku notes Ubisoft also shelved five other games and delayed seven more as part of the company’s restructuring, and that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still expected to arrive.
