Police arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of misconduct in public office and released him under investigation Thursday evening. He was photographed returning to the Sandringham estate after leaving custody. Thames Valley Police, supported by Norfolk Police, searched his former Windsor mansion and completed searches of his Norfolk address.

The investigation focuses on documents from the U.S. Justice Department’s final drop of Epstein files, including emails referencing a “Duke” and visit reports for Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shenzhen linked to trips in 2010 and 2011. Thames Valley Police have said they are assessing information that Andrew, while serving as the U.K.

trade envoy, shared confidential government reports with Jeffrey Epstein; other material mentions a “confidential brief” and an apparent investment opportunity in Afghanistan. Several MPs have urged an independent, statutory inquiry into what the royal family knew about his Epstein links.
